2022 bid; Legacy Stockholm 1912 & Beijing 2008

Two former Summer Olympics hosts are bidding for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. Hoping to become the first city that has organised both Summer and Winter Olympics.

List of proposed venues (from Wikipedia):

  • Tele2 Arena (existing) – ceremonies
  • Åre Ski Area (existing) – alpine skiing (downhill, super-g, giant slalom, combined)
  • Flottsbrobacken (to be built) – alpine skiing (slalom), ski jumping, freestyle skiing (ski cross, slope style), snowboarding (border cross, slope style, giant slalom)
  • Hammarbytoppen (to be built) – bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, freestyle skiing (half pipe, moguls, aerials), snowboarding (half pipe, parallell slalom)
  • Hovet (existing) – curling
  • Friends Arena (existing) – ice hockey
  • Ericsson Globe (existing) – figure skating, short track speed skating
  • Tullinge/Hellasgården/Barkarby/Täby (to be built) – cross-country skiing, biathlon
  • Stockholm Olympic Stadium (existing) – cross-country skiing (sprint)
  • Tallkrogen (to be built) – speed skating
