IOC increases Olympic Solidarity fund by 16 per cent overall and by 25 per cent for direct athlete support programmes
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) today agreed to increase the budget of Olympic Solidarity for the period 2021 to 2024 by 16 per cent. The budget for 2021-2024 will now total USD 590 million. With this decision, the IOC will further strengthen its support to athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and Continental Associations of NOCs.

IOC Session in Athens to take place from 10 to 12 March 2021
After the approval in July of the organisation of two IOC Sessions in 2021, the IOC Executive Board met virtually today and determined that the 137th IOC Session will be held from 10 to 12 March next year in Athens.

IOC initiates International Safeguarding Officer in Sport Certificate
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote athletes’ safety and wellbeing, the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today approved the establishment of the “International Safeguarding Officer in Sport Certificate”. The course leading to certification is set to commence in September 2021. This is a first of its kind because there is currently no certificate or minimum standard of education or training for safeguarding officers in sport on an international level.

IOC Executive Board confirms timeline for Paris 2024 events
The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Executive Board (EB) agreed during a virtual meeting today to maintain the previously set deadline of December 2020 to confirm the event programme and athlete quotas for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, including consideration of the events in the four additional sports proposed by the Organising Committee. IOC approves a financial envelope of up to USD 800 million to address the COVID-19 crisis
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) anticipates that it will have to bear costs of up to USD 800 million for its part of the responsibilities for the organisation of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, its own extended operations and the support for the wider Olympic Movement. This amount will be covered by the IOC itself, including any funding from the Olympic Foundation.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Executive Board (EB) today approved ’s proposal to have Place de la Concorde as the venue for an urban sports cluster and Tahiti as the venue for surfing. The venues were approved by the Paris 2024 Executive Board on 12 December 2019 before being proposed to the IOC.

IOC Executive Board approves qualification pathway for athletes in boxing on the road to Tokyo 2020
Following the recommendations made on 22 May 2019 by the IOC EB to keep the boxing tournament on the Tokyo 2020 sports programme while suspending the recognition of the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), the IOC EB added further proposals to ensure the delivery of the qualification events and the boxing tournament at Tokyo 2020. They will immediately come into force if the IOC Session approves the IOC EB recommendations of 22 May 2019.
