Record number of athletes to run for IOC Athletes’ Commission election at Beijing 2022
The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today approved a list of 17 athletes (a record number for the Olympic Winter Games) covering all five continents, who have proposed their candidatures for the IOC Athletes’ Commission (AC) election that will take place at the upcoming Games in Beijing.

NHL involvement fuels growing anticipation for Beijing 2022 Games
During today’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) meeting, a progress report from the Beijing 2022 Organising Committee highlighted the growing anticipation and preparedness for next year’s Games. IOC Executive Board suspends NOC of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today decided to suspend the Olympic Committee of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (PRK NOC) until the end of 2022, as a result of the NOC’s unilateral decision not to participate in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

IOC Athletes’ Commission’s recommendations on Rule 50 and Athlete Expression at the Olympic Games fully endorsed by the IOC Executive Board
The Athletes’ Commission (AC) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today received the full support of the IOC Executive Board (EB) for a set of recommendations in regard to Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter and Athlete Expression at the Olympic Games. Rule 50 provides a framework to protect the neutrality of sport and the Olympic Games.

Brisbane and AOC invited to targeted dialogue for the Olympic Games 2032
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) today decided to follow the recommendation of the Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad to enter into a targeted dialogue for the Games of the XXXV Olympiad. The IOC will start more detailed discussions with the Brisbane 2032 Committee and the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) about their potential to host the Olympic Games 2032.

IOC Executive Board receives an update on the Refugee Olympic Team for Tokyo 2020 and the support Olympic Solidarity continues to offer to refugee athletes
Olympic Solidarity is currently supporting 55 Refugee Athlete Scholarship-Holders, who are training in the hope of competing at Tokyo 2020 this summer. They come from 13 countries and are hosted by 21 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) across all 5 continents, representing 12 sports.

IOC to be climate positive in 2024
In response to the growing climate crisis, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is aligning with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change by setting a target to reduce its direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 45 per cent, by 2030. The decision was taken at the IOC Executive Board (EB) meeting held remotely today.

IOC EB takes provisional measures against NOC of Belarus
Further to its decision of 25 November to start a formal procedure vis-à-vis the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus, and taking into consideration all the allegations and elements gathered during this ongoing investigation, the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today adopted a number of provisional measures. They are applicable until further notice or until such time as a new NOC Executive Board is elected in February 2021 by the NOC General Assembly.
