Dates for Dakar 2026 approved by IOC Executive Board
The dates for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026 have been decided today. The first Olympic event to be held on the African continent will officially start on 31 October 2026, with an Opening Ceremony on the first day of competition, and will last until 13 November.

Ticket sales open and mascots unveiled as Paris progresses towards 2024
The opening of the Paris 2024 ticketing programme, the successful launch of the ”Phryges” mascots, and the efforts being made to balance its budget highlighted the continued progress made by the Paris 2024 Organising Committee in recent months.

The IOC Executive Board has decided to propose to the IOC Session the election of the former President of the Swiss Confederation, Ulrich “Ueli” Maurer, as a member of the IOC Ethics Commission.

State of the Olympic Movement discussed on final day of IOC Executive Board meeting
The IOC Executive Board (EB) today discussed at length the state of the Olympic Movement in connection with the consequences of the war in Ukraine following the Russian invasion. These discussions, and those at the upcoming Olympic Summit on Friday 9 December, are in preparation for extensive stakeholder consultations, which are planned for in early 2023.

Qualification System Principles for Gangwon 2024 and Milano Cortina 2026 discussed by IOC Executive Board on first day of meeting
The Qualification System Principles (QSP) for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 and the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 were on the agenda today on the first of the two-day International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) meeting at Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland, which some EB members joined remotely.

IOC suspends NOC of Guatemala with effect as from 15 October; issues a final warning to NOC of India
The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today decided to suspend the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Guatemala with effect as from 15 October, if certain criteria are not met before that date. The EB also issued a final warning to the NOC of India. As a consequence, it decided to postpone the IOC Session due to take place in Mumbai in May 2023 until September or October 2023.

A new boxing qualification system for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 was approved by the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today after a full update on the situation of boxing, including governance issues within the International Boxing Association (IBA).

Milano Cortina 2026 set to become the most gender-balanced Olympic Winter Games in history
The sports and event programme of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will include a record number of women’s events and be the most gender-balanced Olympic Winter Games edition to date, with 47 per cent female participation. The programme has been approved by the Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) based on the recommendations of the Olympic Programme Commission (OPC), which assessed the proposals from the International Federations (IFs).

International Olympic Committee launches new four-sport Olympic qualifier series for Paris 2024
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is launching a new four-sport Olympic qualifier series for Paris 2024. This is an Olympic Agenda 2020+5 project, which was presented today to the IOC Executive Board. The new IOC-led Olympic qualifier series will include four sports – BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding, and sport climbing.

-athletes’ experience and engagement
-protecting clean athletes and the fight against doping
-a new initiative to organise a Town Hall event later on this year to further engage with the athlete community
