“Centre Screen have recently completed the largest project we have ever undertaken. 96 people worked for 20 months to produce in excess of 60 different, dual-language exhibits for the newly renovated Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
With AV taking a central role in the visitor journey, the museum is a celebration of the Olympic spirit, brought to life through film, audio and multimedia. Working with Mather & Co, Metaphor and Paragon, Centre Screen’s part in designing the experience was paramount.”

Last year 3NX was chosen as preferred architectural partner for the Olympic Campus in Lausanne. Let’s take a look at a few other proposals in this competion:
June 2013; 12 candidates were asked to develop an architectural concept.
December 2013; three firms were invited to further develop their concepts.
April 2014; The Unity House by 3xN was chosen by the IOC Executive Board.
3XN – Unity House
Farshid Moussavi Architecture – Olympic Forum
Xaveer De Geyter Architecten – One People Under One Roof
Brasil Arquitetura Ltda.
AL_A – Amanda Levete architects Ltd
Diller Scofidio + Renfro
The concept, called “Olympic Unity House” and developed by architectural firm 3XN, ensures that the new building authentically reflects Olympism, the Olympic Movement and the role of the IOC as a catalyst for collaboration in an iconic and transparent way. Olympic Unity House is designed to be a welcoming home for IOC members and the meeting place for the entire Olympic Movement.
The IOC administration will be brought together at Olympic Unity House in a single location in Vidy, resulting in substantial long-term savings, increased working efficiency and energy conservation. With this ambitious project, the IOC aims to demonstrate leadership in terms of sustainability. The highest possible sustainability certification level will be considered, and studies are currently ongoing to define which labels are the most suitable to the new building.
Last April, the EB chose Danish firm 3XN as its architectural partner for the design of its headquarters. The choice concluded a year-long selection process that saw 118 architecture practices from around the world enter an international architecture competition launched by the IOC. Twelve projects, from four different continents, were initially shortlisted. Of those, three were then invited to further develop their concepts.
“The IOC Session was presented today with an architectural project that will allow the IOC to benefit from a modern, functional and sustainable working environment”, said the IOC Director General. “At a time when we are speaking about the future of the Olympic Movement with Olympic Agenda 2020, Olympic Unity House is a bridge between the roots of the IOC in Lausanne and our vision for the future.”

Architecture – Potential consolidation of the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne
The Executive Board chose Danish firm 3xN as its preferred architectural partner for the potential consolidation of the IOC headquarters in Lausanne. The decision follows a unanimous recommendation by the IOC Architecture College made during a meeting on 25 March that included the IOC President, IOC Vice-Presidents Nawal El Moutawakel, Craig Reedie and Zaiqing Yu, Executive Board member Ching-Kuo Wu, and IOC member Lambis V. Nikolaou.
The EB announced its intention last year to look into regrouping the staff of the IOC, who are currently spread throughout Lausanne at a number of sites. The new IOC headquarters would bring the vast majority of the administration to the same location in Vidy, resulting in substantial savings in rental fees, increased working efficiency and energy conservation. The final decision on whether IOC goes ahead with plans to consolidate the headquarters will be dependent on discussions and decisions with the relevant Swiss authorities.
