Italian eventer Margaret Carafa has started a petition in a bid to stop the closure of Centro Equestre Federale Pratoni del Vivaro near Rome.
More than 300 riders gathered to protest about the closure of Pratoni that has been venue for major international horse trails for over 50 years.
Pratoni was built to hold the 1960 Olympics and went on to hold the 1998 World Equestrian Games, the European Championships in 1995 and 2007. It has run many international events.
